Hey guys, I'm super excited that you are reading this right now because it means you are interested in learning how to live a healthier lifestyle and sharing my knowledge of nutrition is what I live for! A little about myself. I am a wife to an amazing man and we have a precious little girl who is 5 yrs old. My husband shares my love for exercise and eating healthy (or at least goes along with it, ha!) which is one of the things I love about him. It is definitely easier to live a healthy lifestyle when your whole family is on board. Our daughter eats what we eat and loves healthy food, you have to start them young!
As far as my career life, my interest in nutrition sparked in high school which is when I first realized the impact food has on our body. What we eat affects more than our weight. Our diet does affect our weight but it also impacts our mood, our risk of developing certain diseases, our physical strength and endurance, and our fertility (just to name a few). According to The Center For Science in The Public Interest, an unhealthy diet contributes to approximately 678,000 deaths each year in the U.S., due to nutrition and obesity-related diseases. Following high school, I attended MSU and earned a BS in Nutrition. I then went to UMMC where I earned a MS in Occupational Therapy. I have spent most of my career life as an Occupational Therapist working predominantly with stroke patients but have never stopped sharing my nutrition knowledge. I have decided to go back to my roots and spend most of my time focusing on nutrition education. WHY? Because prevention is KEY. A lot of patients that I treated as an OT had very unhealthy eating habits which led to their incidence. I am also a certified personal trainer and although my weight-loss plan does not focus on exercise I do recommend it. As far as weight-loss, diet plays a WAY bigger part but exercise will speed up the results and also has a lot of other health benefits.
So, if you are looking to lose a few pounds to look good in your skinny jeans or swimsuit or your goal is to just learn healthier eating habits...I am your girl! Sign up for my 8-week program and I will teach you everything you need to know!
